God Bless America, where each generation thinks they are the only ones with a struggle because they forget about the struggles of the past, the long way we've come to improve ourselves, and the beauty about the possibility for improvements yet to come. God Bless America, where people can boo hoo and complain in the street without the fear of being shot and killed instantly for having an opinion. Remember the fools that burned our flag publicly or stomped on our flag to gain public attention? God Bless America, where a boy who grew up in the hood, grew up to be a family man and made it out safely and with dignity, even though he was surrounded by projects (public housing) who were at war with each other, because Borinquen Projects were better than Williamsburg Projects, and Bushwick Projects were better than Ten Eyck, and Lindsey was better than Cabaña, and everybody had to prove to themselves they were tougher than the next guy. God Bless America, where my kids can wear name brand clothing and not worry about someone waiting around the corner to steal it from them because I was able to move them to a nicer neighborhood. God Bless America where a boy like me, who was branded by society as someone who was destined to fail because of the hood I came from, made it without getting any handouts or stealing from anyone (by the way, so did my brothers, cousins and most of our closest friends). God Bless America, land where we ALL of us have the freedom to better ourselves, and only 2% of people take advantage of that freedom while 98% throw it away to focus on the chip on their shoulders (just my opinion). God Bless America, land of freedom and opportunity. Yes, my country is NOT perfect, but by God's grace I will continue trying to make it better by becoming a better ME, something that will not be completed even to my last breath. It is time for us to look internally, and stop blaming our situations on everyone else. No one told me to write this. It is how I feel and what I believe. GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
